LUXURY is a relative term...meaning different things to different people. Even the wealthy are not recession proof and are cooling home buying. Unsold mansions bedevil local builders. Some of these luxurious homes have been sitting empty since the downturn in 2008. Some of these masterpieces are now being offered for half their original asking price?.possibly ending the speculative, high-end home market for Metro Orlando. One of the requirements for a builder to be considered as part of a "preferred builder" list in these select communities was to construct speculative homes. Upscale homes can take up to a year or two to complete. This "inventory" approach was very successful prior to the downturn. A Buyer could "touch ? feel - see" the opulence and desirability of the end product.

As recent as last month, investors were scooping up the under $100,000 homes in and around Metro Orlando. Now may be the time for buyers looking for GREAT discount prices on McMansions to look at homes in these communities:

Alaqua Lakes - Baldwin Park - Emerson Pointe - Bella Collina - Lake Butler Sound - Lake Nona -Reunion - and Windsong to name a few.
