The City Beautiful is an international destination because of its climate, as well as its proximity to some of the greatest theme parks in the world.In the early 1970's Walt Disney had a dream to expand on his successful Disney Land in California. "Straws" bought land, many of it swamp land, and his dream and creation became Disney World. Early visitors had a difficult time finding hotels to stay at. The Disney hotels had a 6-month waiting list.Fast forward a few decades and the face of Greater Orlando have been transformed forever. Both areas are geared to high-tech and medical research facilities. In addition many major employers, such as, UCF, Central Florida Research Park and Lockheed Martin, to name a few, have a vast presence in the community. They have generated ancillary companies that provide services to them.Downtown Orlando is home to The Magic and a new sports complex is on the horizon. Orlando has many beautiful parks, theatres, cultural events, the arts, museums and night life. With its 80 plus lakes and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean water sports activities are abundant. If you are a golf enthusiast…look no further. You could golf at a different world-class golf course each day of the week for several weeks and not repeat yourself.Orlando is surrounded by pockets of historic districts such as Lake Copeland, Lake Lawsona and Cherokee. Some of the more desirable communities include Thornton Park and Delaney Park.Over the past few years several high-rise upscale condominiums have been built in the center of Orlando.
